About Randy Lajoie, Safety & The Joie of Seating
In a continual effort to promote safer racing to racers across the country, Randy LaJoie has been showcasing the "Safer Racer Tour" around the country. Each appearance includes a safety demonstration for drivers, car inspections, along with a display of safety advancements in the areas of driver seats and proper use of support equipment. This is a great opportunity for Randy to reach a number of racers with safety information, innovations, and equipment that many may not know about. "A lot of safety improvements have been made over recent years, but most of our grass root racers are not aware of a lot them or have not properly implemented them," according to Randy LaJoie.
"Randy LaJoie's Safer Racer Tour" is a program designed to help reach out to the racers many feel are most at risk, the numerous short track drivers around the country. LaJoie has been an activist in much of the safety R&D that NASCAR has conducted over recent years and would like to see these innovations transcend beyond the top 3 NASCAR series. Working with sanctioning bodies, local track owners and promoters, LaJoie is touring around the country with an interactive unit to help bring safety education and innovations to all levels of racing. Still seeking a Title Sponsor for the tour, LaJoie's plans are to continue this tour for years to come in hope of getting the racing industry, at all levels, to use safer equipment and practices.
Biography
Randy LaJoie began racing cars in 1979 at a short track in Danbury, CT. He won the NASCAR Busch North Championship in 1985 and the NASCAR Busch Series Championships in 1996 and 1997. It was at this time that he began building his own race seats when he could not find what he was seeking in a safer driver seat. His seats were noticed by other NASCAR drivers and that led to the creation of "The Joie of Seating". The company, based in Concord, NC, is becoming the leader in supplying seats for drivers of all ages and in all kinds of divisions. This includes the youth divisions where LaJoie offers "The Spencer Clark Child Development Program"... seat leasing program to help parents change seats as their child grows.
