Intrepid Portland Press Herald reporter Ray Routhier helped out at Maine Indoor Karting recently, and wrote an article about his experiences:

The most important thing about supervising a high-speed go-kart race, Zach Comstock was telling me, is to never turn your back on a go-kart.

Never.

Just as he tells me this, a kart driver at Maine Indoor Karting slides into the tire wall and gets stuck. Comstock flicks on the yellow warning lights to slow the other drivers, while fellow track supervisor Adam Ruetty runs out onto the track to right the stuck kart, so that the driver can get back in the race.

MIK Safety Classes

During the summer we offer safety classes Mon-Fri at Noon and 4PM and Sat-Sun at 11AM and 4PM.

Please call ahead to reserve your spot and arrive 30 minutes prior to class.

• Who need to take the safety class: Juniors ages 8 -15 must take the safety course and individuals ages 16 and 17 without a valid street license must also take the safety course
  
• You must be at least 8 years old and 50" tall to participate
• Anyone under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian fill out and sign a parental waiver form
• Participants are asked to wear close toed shoes for their protection
• The class cost is $35.00 during scheduled times, or $40.00 if unscheduled
